What is the 7(j) Program?
The 7(j) Program Management & Technical Training is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). It is designed to help firms successfully compete for federal, state and local contracting opportunities as a prime contractor or subcontractor.
Who is Eligible for the 7(j) Program?
To be eligible, your firm must meet one of the following criteria:
- A current participant in the 8(a) Business Development Program;
- A small business that is owned and controlled by an economically and socially disadvantaged individual;
- A small business located in an area of high unemployment or low-income; or
- A small business that is owned by a low-income individual
Is the 7 (j) Training Free?
If you are eligible, Yes.
Section 7(j)(1) of the Small Business Act, 15 U.S.C. 636(j)(1), authorizes the SBA to enter into grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts with public or private organizations to pay all or part of the cost of technical or management assistance for individuals or concerns eligible for assistance under sections 7(a)(11), 7(j)(10), or 8(a) of the Small Business Act.
How do I receive Assistance?
Training requires registration and approval from the SBA. You can request training through your 8(a) office or the Office of Government Contracting & Business Development
